Cougars Fall At Stew-Stras,
Regroup in Win Over Patoka

The Cougars stumbled badly in a 10-0 road loss to the Stew-Stras Comets, but turned things around the very next day in a 7-1 victory over the Patoka Warriors.

On Thursday at Stewardson, the Cougar bats fell silent and the pitching and defense were erratic at best as they were belted by the hosts in six innings.

The offense only mustered three hits and no runs and left six baserunners stranded in scoring position.

Starter Luke Krajefska suffered the loss allowing 2 runs through 3 innings before being removed because of soreness in his arm. Reliever Larry Schoreck had trouble finding the strike zone in his 1 1/3 innings of work, as did Colton Wilkins who relieved him in the fifth.

The defense didn't help much either as they committed four errors on the game.

On Friday, the Cougars got a brilliant pitching performance from sophomore Shawn Meyer as he went the distance allowing 1 run on 2 hits, no walks, and 12 strikeouts to stymie the Warriors.

The offense was led by Larry Schoreck as he rocked a two-run double in the 2nd to put the Cougars on the board. He struck again in the 3rd with a run-scoring single.

Cole Armstrong had a big day as well as he singled and tripled with one RBI.

The Cougars return to action next Tuesday when they host the Dieterich Movin Maroons at 7:00 PM.
